my doctor prescribed arapax for my anxiety and panic attack but after 2 days of taking it my attacks started to get worse than ever so i stopped. is this normal??? does it take awhile for them to work??? should i start taking them again??

Dear wren79,
Aropax is the australian name for Paroxetine or Paxil. It takes about 4 weeks for the medication to start working properly. I would discuss this problem with your Doctor though, just to get his opinion. You may be having worse attacks because of the feelings of the initial side effects that decrease as you are on the mediction. It is always best to let your Doctor know what you are doing and the problems that you are having with the medications. Be specific about the symptoms you are having while taking the drug when you talk to him. Good luch my Friend

Sincerely,

Sickman :)

Oh, if you are talking about Paxil, then YES, it can make your anxiety worse! If you want to give it another try, talk to your doctor about starting out at a lower dose. A few years ago I started out at 20mg and couldn't handle it. This time around I started at 10mg, then 15 mg, then 20mg.
