Depression board

Thanks everyone for your responses! I really wasn't expecting so much support.

I have been in therapy and on medication in the past for about 8 months, but I felt more like I was being put off or shoved aside by my therapist (like she had more important matters to attend to and I was just another stressed out college student), and I hated the way Paxil made me feel-- numb and emotionless. I am a very emotional person in all aspects of life, good and bad, and I just felt like a robot. Maybe I should give it another try. I am not insured right now because I quit my job so I'm not sure how to go about that.

But I really appreciate everyone taking the time to respond. It means a lot to me!

Hi Square
I was fired from my job and I was able to keep the COBRA for awhile but now I don't have any insurance at all either. Look into the Mental Health Dept. in your area. They provide Psychiatrists, Therapists and meds on a sliding scale basis. I am getting better dr and therapist than when I had insurance.

The Paxil may not be the right med for you if you are all numb from it. You may want to try something different and talk to your doctor about it. There are some different meds or combination of meds. Do some research on the meds and even a more natural approach may be something you want to consider. The medications are different for everyone and you just have to see what is best for you. Oh, and the therapist that keeps pushing you off. Hey, you pay her salary. Try the mental health clinic in your area. It's worth checking into.

Best wishes,
Sam
