Depression board

I took Paxil for 2 yrs and it really helped with the anxiety. I started a major depression about 2 months ago due to a series of sad and bad things in my life. The Paxil was not working for the depression. Dr switched me to Cymbalta, was okay at 30mg for one week but when increased to 60 mg I had alot of side effects, particularly a terrible daily headache. Now I've been on Lexapro for 2 weeks. I have not felt the full effect of it yet as it can take up to a month. One side effect on this - some occasional nausea, particularly to smells in the morning. Asked dr about this and she said it was the Lexapro but would improve with time and it has. None of these drugs have caused weight gain for me. I'm one of those people who can't eat unless I'm happy. I've lost alot of weight in the past 3 months and have a very poor appetite. I actually like the weight I'm at now but all my clothes are too big! I guess you can't have everything. I'm sure your dr will find something that works for you. Alot is trial and error. If one does not work, they try another. Some, such as the Cymbalta, must be tapered to stop. Also, the Cymbalta does not work for anxiety as I started having anxiety attacks while on it. Just shows how well the Paxil was working for me on the anxiety issues.
Best wishes,
Karen.....watch how much valium you take....it's terribly addictive.

Granny...I'm just gonna say this...some depression, such as bad things happening to us....bad circumstances....can be quite normal. Medication, like Paxil, works on the chemical imbalance in your brain...if the Paxil didn't work, maybe it was because your brain was balanced, and you are depressed about your circumstances.

If you can work out the bad circumstances, maybe the Paxil will work again.

Just a thought....
