Discussions that mention paxil

Anxiety board

Hi everyone ,

Hope you all are doing well this evening. I was just wondering if any of you had any opinions on different types of anti-depressants? I started taking Paxil in March of 2001 and weaned off of it early this year because of weight gain . That was really tough, it's a very hard drug to get off of.

I tried to not take anything else but did not feel like I was dealing with life like I wanted to so my therapist and I discussed things and she put me on Zoloft, which I have been on for about 2 months. I have to tell you all that I don't care for it. I cry often. I am impatient alot of the time and can get upset at the drop of a hat. I have an appt. with my therapist next week and I'm going to tell her that this isn't working and I need to try something else.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Oh, I forgot, I did try Prozac for about 6-8 weeks before the Zoloft and I could not tell I was even taking anything, so I know that's out. I wish I didn't have to take anything but for me to be happy with me and everything around me, I need help. Any news on medications from you all would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks everyone :)
anti-depressants... well, this is a good one for me, i've been on so many, i'm not sure if i'll be able to remember them all. you mentioned paxil. just wanted to let you know that of all the anti-depressants that i've taken paxil was the only one with which i experienced withdrawal symptoms from. it also made me feel weird, like i wasn't really myself, but kind of just along for the ride.

i currently take 100mg prozac daily. i've been on and off prozac for years. it's the only anti-depressant that i've ever noticed an improvement from and has minimal side effects, so that's what i would recommend. but each drug works differently for everyone.

i've been on prozac, paxil, zoloft, elavil, trazadone, celexa, effexor, pamelor, and several others. most of them i took it and it didn't seem to make a difference at all. prozac works the best for me.
