Hi I am new here so thanks in advance for any help.
Short version is I was diagnosed w/a 80 year old back at the age of 38. Started on Oxycontin 80 mgs a day went to 160 mgs a day in a year. I have for the last 2 yrs. been on 40-60 mgs a day and now I am trying to get off of this.

I have tapered to 30 mgs (3-10's) then got 5mg Percocets 5x a day, to taper to 25mgs and I am really suffering. My question is; am I getting the same amount of the medicine in the Oxy/12 hour release as the Percocet 4-6 hr release?
It seems so much worse since I switched to the Percocets, even though the dosage is the same.
Thanks, BMHB
medguy,
You said, in order of strength, oxy, norco then percs. Are norcos stronger than percocets?
Thanks,
Shannon

That is from highest to lowest in my opinion (that is if you chew the oxy). Norco is 10/325 and The percs are 5/500 you said.

medguy,
So, if you were to take 1 Norco at 10mg and 1 percocet at 10mg, which would be stronger? Sorry about the questions.
Shannon
Thanks so much I cannot tell you how help it is knowing I am not crazy!! Validation is so important when you are going thru this.
So I take from the order of strengths' that by me tapering from oxy's to Percocets that was a pretty good jump. This week my kids are gone so I can sleep it off, the nights are really rough.
I don't want to go to fast and get discouraged. Thank God I finally understand the difference between my pain & withdrawal pain.
Thanks for everything, bmhb
