Discussions that mention plavix

High & Low Blood Pressure board

Hi Chalupa! :)

What did your doctor tell you?

When the blockage is less than 50%, Aspirin or Plavix are prescribed to prevent clotting. When it is 70% or more, other treatments are used, such as angioplasty with stenting or endarterectomy. Anticoagulants, such as Heparin or Coumadin, may also be given to prevent formation of blood clots.
My internist told me that a combination of two of the drugs I take, aspirin and Lipitor, should protect me from blood clots and prevent further buildup of plaque. Eating healthy food makes a difference and helps reduce inflammation. In my experience, using antiinflammatory supplements is a must. Do some research, Chalupa. The plaque buildup can sometimes be reversed or greatly reduced. :)
My arterial neck pain stopped with the commencement of antihypertensive therapy. If yours continues, please make sure your doctor knows about it.

Good luck!
