You might want to ask the surgeon/doctor to prescribe something like Flexeril to help with the spasms, and Topomax if there is any nerve pain.

And to cover all the bases, if you can include a banana for potassium in his diet every day, that might help, too. I used to suffer with a lot of calf cramps before my surgery, but when I ate a banana a day, it seemed to help them, especially while I slept.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. Today we came back from the NS office but only to have the sutures removed from the second surgery. Of course, they said it's way too early to tell anything and you know the rest of the story. I'm sure you all have heard the same thing. It is early, I admit, and I'm impatient and worried for my son. They did up the Neurontin to 300mg three times a day. We'll see if that helps.
