Hi Joy, I started taking magnesium about 2 weeks ago, but not for backache. I have been having leg problems, cramps in the back of my legs and a sore feeling in the muscles. My doctor recommended the magnesium for these symptoms. I also had some blood work done, but didn't get the results yet. I do have a few bad disc's in my back, also. My legs do feel a little better, but my back still hurts, so I don't think the magnesium did anything for my back so far. I was wondering what other kinds of vitamins you were taking, and why did you stop taking them? I take so many kinds of vitamins: Potassium, B-12, Calcium, Folic acid, Garlic, Vitamin E, etc. Sometimes I think I should just take a mulit vitamin and be done with it! I am glad to hear the magnesium helped your back, though, and I hope you continue to be pain free. You never know what might work, and I am glad the magnesium helped you. Take care!
