I get leg cramps also a lot when I use my legs. I was a majorette in high school and college and quite often would get them in the middle of the night. It was horrible pain and I never knew when I would wake up with one.
I take Potassium daily at night and drink plenty of water and it keeps me cramp free. If too much Potassium is taken it can cause problems with your liver, but my doc checks my levels often since he knows I take them.
Also bananas are a great source of potassium if you are not into taking vitamins.
