High & Low Blood Pressure board

Yes diuretics are appropriate treatment for High BP even if you are not salt sensitive, because they reduce the blood volume. usually, a diuretic (like HCT) is added to other meds like ACEs, Beta Blockers, ARBs and CCBs to form a combo for enhanced reduction effect of the blood pressure. But first line of treatment should be trying diuretics alone and see what would happen.

For me, diuretics cause a lot of side effects so I don't use them. Also you need to know that diuretics deplete the natural minerals in the body, so you need to make sure that you consume enough Magnesium and Potassium in your diet. Also you might need to get your Potassium tested after the first 30 days of being on a diuretic.

Good luck,
