Anemia board

Betty, I have had lupus for 16 years and i'm seeing my rheumatologist for my routine check-up next week. As you know there are alot of different types of anemia. Many people with lupus and other autoimmune problems do have anemia. Some people with lupus even get AIHA(autoimmune idiopathic hemolytic anemia). My doctor doesn't think I have this one, just the iron deficient type. I know how you feel about work and the loss of stamina. I'm only 47 and I'm a nurse and had to cut my hours way back. Years ago I took the Plaquenil but had to go on Prednisone for more serious issues with the lupus. I do pretty well with it,all things considered.Definitely get a good rheumatologist who is willing to listen and do all the tests to figure out what illness it is.There are lots of different autoimmune illnesses and specific criteria they use to diagnose each one. I was lucky-they found out I had lupus in a couple of months. My PCP told me it takes years for some people to get diagnosed. Best of luck! :)
