Discussions that mention prednisone

Arthritis board

madamkitty..I have had RA since 1983. I also have had nodules come up. They appear on my elbows and fingers, at the joints., and yes, when inflammation activity is high they do tend to be very sore and swollen.
and yes, they do feel hard like bone.
they are quite common in RA.
I'm not familiar with Fibromyalgia, and don't know the appropriate treatments.
I have been on Remicade treatment for about 3 years or so. and these nodules have decreased in size, some have disappeared, and they don't tend to be inflamed anymore.
I do take other medications..and have been taking them for years. including prednisone (low dose, and methotrexate (relatively low dose).
but I think it is the Remicade that has made the changes in the nodules.
These nodules can appear anywhere. sometimes they will go away, but often they don't.
I don't know what your symptoms are, but if I were you I would talk to your doctor about the nodules that could be a sign of increasing inflammation and even discuss with him the possibility of RA.
hope you are seeing a rheumatologist.
I know that the appearance of the nodules is distressing. If you truly do have Fibromyalgia, and not RA..my treatment might not apply to you.
best of luck to you.
