Depression board

hello,
i am new to this board and am wondering if any other people are totally unmotivated sitting among constant clutter. i sit and look at the mess and have zero interest in cleaning it up. i have been severely depressed for most of my life. i sometimes think that i am just lazy, although doctors assure me that this is a legitimate illness and lack of motivation is a legit symptom...anyone who can relate to me? i also have been commom law with my husband for 13 years and we have a 5 year old son. i am currently taking 40mg of prozac and 150mg of wellbutrin sr (just started wellbutrin). :)

Lack of motivation is VERY COMMON... Of course the degree's and what you are unmotivated in doing differs from person to person.

For example, a month or two ago, I was so down that I was UNMOTIVATED to seek help for myself...

My social worker said to me, "Just do it and once you start, you will feel better because you will see the results." And she was right!

I was unmotivated to do some Web Desgining, but I FORCED myself to do it, and once I got going, I didn't realized how much I enjoyed it, I just plowed right along and felt good after I have my finished results in front of me.

Maybe if you just START the cleaning (for example) and see the place looking nice, maybe for a FEW DAYS you can feel a bit motivated... Of course there will be SLUMPS... But when the depression isn't unmotivating you too bad, just get up and giver a whurl!

Got nothing too loose.
 I was the same way. I am 33 and have been depressed forever. I can tell you what works for me. (I am also on 40 mg Prozac). I was evaluated for adult ADHD. Obviously I was THE OPPOSITE of hyper. I would literally stare at the mess :dizzy: and felt as though I were paralyzed. I was diagnosed with ADHD and have been on Ritalin LA 30mg for 6 months now. I can actually complete tasks and it helps me to maintain my household. (I have 18 month old twins and an 8 year old). I still have issues with depression/anxiety and probably always will, but it has truly saved me from that "paralysis". Good luck to you!
