I'm kind of confused on which direction I need to take. I have an appointment with my PDoc tommorow afternoon, so I want to have my ducks in order.
Just a bit of background, I originally started on Zoloft, then Paxil several years ago. Both made me ill. Then I was switched to Celexa. It worked great for several years. My only side effects was fatigue and weight gain. As much as I hate those, it's better than nausea. After a few years, it just felt it wasn't working anymore. So I was switched to Lexapro. Again, didn't feel any different, but I wonder if it's because it was so similar to Celexa? Then, we tried Effexor XR. It seemed to work at first, despite the fatigue and 30 pound weight gain. It only seemed to last 6 months. Then, he switched me to Prozac. That was the worst. I stopped it 2 weeks ago. I had nausea, anxiety and it really got my Restless Leg Syndrome acting up. So I've been off meds for a few weeks and am not doing so well.
I get horrible mood swings, a dead feeling inside like I'm worthless, I don't like doing anything I enjoy, I've become a hermit, I'm incredibly snappy to my kids (which I really hate) and I just don't look forward to anything. I have no energy or initiative to even clean my house. Overcast days are the worse, I just want to go back to bed and sleep all day. Some days it's just tears all day.
So, back to my question, I'm thinking of just going back on Celexa or Lexapro. I'm thinking since I've been off of them about a year now, mabye it'll work again? Does anyone know if it works that way? It seemed to be the only one that really worked well, pulled me out of my funk and had minimal side effects. I've also been thinking of Wellbuterin since it tends to give energy, which is something I need. I take Provigil to counteract the fatigue from my AD's, but also because I have sleep apnea. However, I'm slowly building a tolerance to that, too.
I'm wondering if I should skip the whole Celexa/Lexapro and just try Wellbuterin? Has anyone had any luck with that by itself? Or does it work better in addition to another AD? After Prozac, I'm scared to death of side effects, so if it's known to give many side effects, I want to steer clear. I'm also prone to the anxiety-butterflies-in-my-stomach feeling which I take .25mg of Xanax as needed. Everytime I switch a medication, that usually flares up.
Any tips or ideas on Wellbuterin by itself or a Celexa or Lexapro/Wellbuterin combo?
