Maybe you guys can help me! My doc won't give me klonopin or xanax because he thinks I will be addicted to it, I am on generic prozac right now and I need something to take the edge off really bad. I tried generic ativan and it did nothing!!! He put me on an anti psychotic called seroquil to help me sleep. I don't feel comfortable taking it at all. It is also 180.00 to get it, I can't afford it. he gave me samples and I took them but I can't afford the 180.00. I don't drink alcohol or do drugs....I used to years ago but I am not an adict. What do you think? Change doctors? That is what I am thinking. Maybe I can go to my regular doc instead of my psych and get a rx. Please any advice would be great. I am so tense I clench my jaw and have restless legs all of the time. I have been on the fluoxotine for over a month now. thank you

I don't find Klonopin to be addictive either, but I also never got addicted to xanax either. You could try a psychiatrist, they understand meds for our condition better than a GP doc. Most GP's are more internal med & don't keep up with the side affects etc. of the AD's.
I havent tried the klonopin and about the try the prozac starting today. I have complete and utter anxiety first thing in the morning because of a horrific TMJ condition that I live with. So prozac did nothing for you? Go see a regular MD or an internist. They are willing with a pad and pen if you go in there in tears! I have had them throw medication at me before and I fought it by not taking anything. Now I am a basket case!
Oh, I like the prozac, It has helped a lot!!! I just want something to take the edge off a little when I do get panicky. I am seeing a psych now and he denied me of the klonopin and xanax because of my PAST. I made an apt to see another psych on friday and maybe he will understand. The psych I am seeing right now is a freakin retard and all he can do for me is give me anti psychotics that have potential very harmful side effects. I feel comfortabe on the prozac, It is very safe. I just want to try a benzo before bed or during the day. I have had a hard time sleeping since I started the prozac, that is the only negative thing about it. Thank you for your advice!!!!!!!

HAVE A HAPPY THANKSGIVING ALL OF YOU!
Hi Worrywort:
Yeah, your right about the shrinks. They wanted me to start of with drugs like Gabatrille, Seriguiell, other wierdo drugs, I cant even pronounce, because I have anxiety due to a severe TMJ disorder in my jaw. Who wouldnt be messed up with a clogged ear and vertigo every single freaking day! I will try the prozac. Happy Thanksgiving to you too.
Best Regards:
Demi
Hi Lori J:
Have you ever tried prozac for this TMJ disorder and anxiety from it? I have a prescription for it and am afraid to try. Do you get the clogged ears and vertigo from the TMJ also?

No, TMJgirl, I have never been on Prozac. I was on amitriptyline for 6 years, but I became tolerant of it & have been changed to vivactil which is of the same family as amitrip. and is working great for me for anxiety, stress & depression. Any good AD should help with your anxiety, as long as it's one that you can tolerate. I was tried on Lexapro & had all the physical side affects, so then changed to effexor xr and had rapid heart beat & was so hyper I could not sleep. Sometimes it takes a few tries to find one that works for you. I also take Klonopin to help me sleep and it also relaxes me during the day so I'm not clenching & irritating the jaw.

Why are you afraid to try prozac? If you try it & within the first few weeks, you have bad reactions you can always go off of it & try a different one.

No, I never had he vertigo from it, but my ears popped, crackled, whistled (which they still do) had awful pain in ears, neck, head, eyes and even numbness from the ear to my lip on that side. I have talked to others that have had the vertigo with it though. I had all the tests & there was never anything wrong with my eustachion tubes, but I always had a full feeling in my ears.
