Menopause board

I dont think we are suppose to have sunshine until Sunday according to the weater channel. I have brain fog too. I cant stand this grey cold weather. it really affects me! I went to a new gp. She gave me avapro for BP and paxil for the emotions. I hope I feel better soon. I teach piano in my home and started having panic attacks while i am teaching. I just dont want to teach anymore. The paxil should help with the social anxiety that I have. This is affecting my job! I am stopping the prozac and will start the paxil tomarrow. My obgyn wouldnt give me BCP because of my BP. So I have to get that down. It was 160/90 and went down to 140/90 at the drs. it was about 130/80 at home before the drs. Hopefully, this is all so hard!!! One good thing is I am sleeping a bit better. I am grateful for that. Hang in there. When it gets hard just remember your peri buddy down south of you that is hanging in there too. this is not a sickness unto death, This too shall come to pass.
Hi hoefully, why did you stop the paxil? The reason I switched drs is because I really have not had a gp. I had one but he was such a jerk and scared me so much with the BP thing. At that time I had no clue why I felt the way I did and had never heard of peri. I kept going to him for stomach, bp, allergies etc. I tried a 2nd dr but he was the same. this gp(3rd dr) is female and young, maybe 30 if that. She is open to trying different meds etc. I could go on and on about that 1st dr. He gave me nothing when I begged him about anxiety/depression. I had to go see my obgyn and he gave me prozac. The 1st dr. wouldnt try diffent bp meds or anything. I left him very frustrated about drs and scared of them. No wonder my BP goes up when I see a dr!!! So I havent had a gp for about a year and a half. I have had my obgyn though and he is frustrating too. He says I am too young for peri and I was pretty much ignored. I am 43, will be 44 in May. so I like this new dr. She seems to be kind and open. I even talked to her about my hormones. She said it is possible. She said we could draw blood to check my hormones but it may not reflect anything. I just hope the paxil takes care of alot of the peri stuff for me.
Took my first paxil this am. Other then terrible brain fog, I am hanging in there. Tomarrow should be sunny. Today is a mess! I am hoping the paxil will turn me around this week just like you said with your mom and SIL. One thing for sure it didnt make me more anxious. I felt the prozac did. i really felt worse on it. This gp said prozac is not her first choice. She said effexor(sp) is but my BP needs to under control to take that. I am very happy to be trying the paxil over the prozac because it is a much newer med than prozac. Do you ever get light headed standing up with your bp meds. Sometimes I think my bp goes a little south at times.

I really dislike that spacey feeling. Before perimenopause my bp was very low and I use to experience that lightheadedness when I stand up. Yes, Effexor, like several other antidepressants, can elevate your blood pressure. My sister is taking Effexor and doing wonderful. She still has some anxiety, but I don't think it's anything like what we've experienced.
