Hey Abrie.... Sorry you are dealing with all this pain... but there are many of us here that can relate... Unfortunately... the narrowing of the spinel canal can cause you alot of pain as well, that is what my Neurosurgeon told me, he said unfortunately I have a narrow spinel canal as well and it makes it easier for the nerves to be hit and aggravated.

You said you have been on Vicodin... Yes Vicodin is a very strong drug, but it does not actually do anything for the pain itself, it actually works in your head to make you not pay as much attention to the pain... its a mental thing, that is also what my Neuro told me.... be very careful it is very easy to get addicted to Vicodin, be very careful upping your dosage because what you are taking may not help the pain... I have been on Methadone for nearly a year now, and It is a VERY stong narcotic drug, but I can tell you it bearly touches my pain...I am also on a Muscle relaxer (Zanaflex) and also Elavil (is a antidepressant & helps me sleep) I am being weaned off the Methadone because my body has reacted negatively to it....

As far as the Celebrex you should be able to take it with the Vicodin because the Celebrex is a anti inflammatory....but You may want to call your doctor and ask if he/she can perscribe you a muscle relaxer to take at bedtime.... it will help to relax you especially when you go to bed, so your muscles won't spasm and you can go to sleep easier...

As far as if this is causing depression and such.... you may even talk to them about perscribing a Antidepressant like Zoloft, Prozac, what have you... it can also help to relieve pain.. and help to deal with all this better...

So have you found out when exactly your surgery is? I hope for your sake soon...

The most relief I find, and each person is different is when I lay down, flat on my back, that is they way I have to sleep now... but it does help relieve my pain....

I Haven't had or dont know much about the procedure you are having, but sounds to me like the procdure is going to be done microscopically, through a small insision, and they will go in through a small insision, and a camera and cut away the pieces of disk that are sticking out and compressing your nerve.... and the recovery time is much much shorter and it only takes a bandaid to cover the insision.... I dont know, but its my guess.....

Good Luck to you... Hope you are pain free soon..
