Well, since OCD is an anxiety disorder, the anxiety that you previously experienced was probably just a precursor to the OCD, and depression is the most common co-morbid psychiatric disorder with OCD (I don't have it, though). Substance abuse can lead to some psychiatric disorders, but it's usually psychoses, so I doubt that your OCD was a cause of your past drug use. Anyway, you definitely sound like a pure obsessional: if you don't keep your mind busy, you will be plagued by obsessions. Why do you think that I'm going stir-crazy waiting to go back to college next week?! lol! :D I don't really know how I deal; I guess I just take it one step at a time. Some days are worse than others, but then again, I have the classic "waxing-waning" type of OCD. I'm on medication (Prozac, Lamictal, and Klonopin), and I go to CBT every week while I'm in school, so I haven't been there for a month; I go back next Thursday. My treatment is kind of inhibited by my other psychiatric disorders. OCD is my main problem, and is by far, the most severe of my diagnoses, but other than that, I have: Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), severe panic attacks due to specific phobias and my OCD, cyclothymia, and a mild case of Asperger's. When you mentioned the dizziness, do you also have a racing heart, increased breathing, and/or abdominal distress? If so, this is probably a panic attack. I get them daily. I don't have panic disorder, though- all of my panic attacks are attributed to a cause and a specific worry. Do you have any more questions? I'm here if you do! Talk to you soon!
