Hi Mk-- I'm usually on other boards but I had to come in to this board as it caught my eye. I have other health issues, but I also have been diagnosed with PTSD because of a lot of trauma in my life. I'm also a dual diagnosis as well and thanks to a lot of years of therapy some of my issues have (I hope) been laid to rest. I noticed that you are taking Prozac
and was wondering if it helped. I was taking assorted meds from years ago--tricyclic antidepressants, tranquilizers, meds for panic disorder and they would help for a while, but I still have a lot of breakthrough flashbacks of trauma in my life--death of a parent at age 6, father verbally abusive( he still is at age 85!) abusive boyfriend in high school, death of other close relatives, daterape, loss of a child--not to mention being made fun of because of overweight and mother dying as a child. Most of the meds that were given to me either put me in the twilight zone,or became dependent on them, or block all my impulses. I also am allergic to alot of them and right now I'm decreasing the amitriptyline that I'm taking (I'm only on 50 mg--down to 25 right now) and will stop by next week. I was wondering how you find the Prozac
? I hear so many pros and cons about it. I know of two people who take it and have had good luck with it, but one person is bipolar, and the other I haven't heard from in a while. Let me know how it is for you. Thanks so much!
