Back Problems board

HI One Wolf:

Although I'm not sure I can help with your question, I did want to say welcome to a neighbor. I live in Apex. I have had spine problems since I broke my back at 19 so I have always dealt with an Ortho Surgeon. I was referred to him by my family dr. After not getting pain relief from surgery in Feb I was sent to Duke Adult Spine Center. Dr. Richardson was first recommended but the wait was 3 months. I actually found Dr. Hey doing a search on the internet for spine drs in the local area. He is actually at the same center and after emailing him I got an appt within 5 weeks. I would start with asking your family dr for a referral to a neurologist/neurosurgeon. They should be able to decide if they can help your or if you need an ortho dr. As far as detection goes, if it were an exact science there probably wouldn't be as many of us here swapping war stories. Sorry I could not be more help, another might come along and be of service to you...Jo H.
