I am a five year rls sufferer with just a few quick questions....

My neuro doctor has me on requip, which seems to mostly help. Anyone else trying this drug? Mirapex didn't seem to work for me.... I'm curious if anyone is on requip and what type of dosing they are doing. I'm having trouble finding the right amount to help some sometimes awful creepy crawly symptoms.
Hi matt,

I'm confused, what is requip? The only thing that ever helped me, not completely, but, close, was a nerve pill. At the time I was having those awful "feels like someone is jabbing me hard with a pin" type things, with creepy crawls too. It was so bad, I could not sleep.

Gina - requip is very similar to mirapex (I believe this is how my doctor explained it). It is a parkinsons drug that evidently may be the first drug approved by the FDA to treat RLS specifically - this is per my doctor at the Muhammad Ali Parkinson Research Center here in Phoenix. What type of nerve med have you tried? P.S. My syptoms have been the creepy crawling, pins, sensitive skin, and electrical shock sensations from my waist to the tips of my toes.
I have been on Requip for 1 1/2 years, it does seem to help me. It is a Parkinsons medication. I stared out at .5mg and I am up to 2mg. It stops working and we have to up the dose. I also suffer from migranes, which was the orginal reason for seeing a neurologist. The meds he gave me for the migranes kicked the RLS into over drive. And to me it was definate that the two meds did not work together, he does not believe this. I decided without sleep that the migranes were worse so I stopped the medication and continued on the Requip. I went in today and he gave me [rescriptions for Requip, Neurontin and Klonopin(when needed). I really do not want to take all of this but I do need the sleep to function.
If anyone has information to share on these two medications I would appreciate the help before I start them.
