Back Problems board

Hi Guys, I just got in the house about an one hour ago and am laying in my bed in the family room with my legs propped up and my laptop on my knees.

Thank you Yvette for keeping everyone posted.

My surgery lasted around 4 1/2 hours. They removed the rods on the right side and my surgeon could see where the rods were rubbing on the bones. He said there was alot of bone spurs on L3 and L4 that did not show up on the MRI, catscan, or mylegram. He did a laminectomy on L3 and L4, decompressed L5 nerve openings, and added bmp to the L5/s1 fusion sites. Also I was more fused then the tests revealed. PRAISE GOD!! So for all of you who have negative tests results, my advice to you is to keep on trying because these tests are not 100%. He could not insert cage because he was afraid of doing permananet damage because the space was not large enough. He also felt L4 did not need to be fused once he got in and looked.

I am highly medicated oxy, percocet, and soma. I hope this makes sense.

My leg pain has all but disappeared in the right thigh. My doctor believes that I need to have a complete workup on my hip. He believes I may have a hip problem but as of right now I have no leg pain!!!

Gotta go take a nap.....

Pepper, I'm so happy for you! You've gone through so much I'm really excited for you. They say what doesn't kill you makes you stronger and I know that you are one of the strongest people I know despite the occasional bouts of crying, everyone is allowed that much but to have your life back is truly a blessing. Now you can do things you've wanted to do but couldn't before, like walk without excruciating pain, do dishes, clean the house, go for walks, cook dinner, clean out the garage....just kidding about some of those but those are the mundane things that we've taken for granted and I'll tell you, those ARE the things I'm looking forward to doing:D! In the meantime let them spoil you and again congratulations! I'm glad your feeling better so soon.

Thank you so much everyone. To tell you the exact truth I can't remember what he said he thought the problem was with my hip -- I am on alot of meds right now. Oxy ER, percocet, and soma. I will see him on Wed/Thurs and ask him again.

As terrible and negative as this sounds, I am trying not to get my hopes up -- I am afraid of being disappointed again. I don't know if this is a normal feeling or not but I am scared of my future.
