Krysta, I feel your pain! I have had "back trouble", since my pregnancy with my son, who is now 6 and 1/2 years old. My back first "went out", after his birth. I dealt with the pain, until May of 2007, without any treatment or medication. Then in May of 2007, my back "went out" for the second time. I had x-rays and a MRI two weeks after that, which showed abnormalities, due to the degenerative disc disease. Physical therapy and lumbar injections made my condition worse! I also just found out that I have nerve compression in both of my wrists and hands (the right is worse because of me being right handed) with a Nerve Conduction Study (NCS). My first neurosurgeon appointment was on January 22, 2008, and he wants to use surgery (a fusion), as a "last resort." I also have a heart condition and high blood pressure (that is due to the chronic pain). I take an anti-inflammatory, Soma (muscle relaxant), Mobic, Hydrocodone 5/500 (for pain), Tramadol (up to 200 mg daily), and several "natural" remedies daily, just for my back! Please don't give up and hopefully you can search and find a doctor that is willing to do whatever it takes to give you adequate pain relief!
