Thyroid Disorders board

my daughter is 13. she was dx with diabetics in dec. 2002. she is doing great with her blood sugars and shots. she is getting ready to go on the pump.
at her dr. appt. yesterday he said her thyroid is too large. he said she had "thyroidist"(not sure of the spelling). there was blood work done, last appt. but he did'nt say what it was. he put her on "synthroid" 88mg. tabs once a day, for the rest of her life. her dr. is suppose to be one of the best in the country. but i am not comfortable with this dx.
so i am looking for info, symptoms, just anything before i put her on med. for the rest of her life.
thanks in advance,
stacey
i am 30 years old and was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes 2 1/2 years ago. a year later i was diagnosed with hypothyroidism and have been on Synthroid since then. i am taking .1 mg a day, plus 12.5 mcg of Cytomel. i personally have had no adverse side effects from either of these drugs. i wiil most likely go off the Cytomel at some point, but will stay on the Synthroid forever-unless they come up with something better. i am not sure what you mean by "thyroidist" tho, so i can't provide any insight there. anyway, theres my 2 cents worth!
