Discussions that mention synthroid

Thyroid Disorders board

I'm really new to all of this and need someone's opinion. I've been feeling a bit wierd for the past few months (anxious & depressed, "foggy", weight gain, very moody, skin problems, and tired all the time) so I went to my normal doctor. As a normal course of action, I got my blood tested (I forgot the test). I just got the results: my tsh level is 72.4 That isn't a typo. He's said that this was the highest he ever heard. He prescribed Synthroid and recommended that I see him in six weeks. So, here are my questions: is this possible to have a tsh so high? Should I go to a endocrinologists right away? How bad is it to have this high a tsh level? Any adivise would help... thanks
