Meep, thank you very much for that detailed reply.

I guess I really have no idea where I'm at right now, since my free levels have never been tested. But I will know soon, and then I can start applying that. I'm just detailed enough to want to manage meds at that level. I'm either going to have to manage this condition to near normal levels, or I'm going to have to step down at my job.

Can I ask about your preference for Unithroid? Are you aware of factors making this a better T4 choice over Levoxly or Synthroid?
DON'T use Armour's guidelines for med equivalences, as they are only approximate. I have found that I can more accurately adjust my dose using the following information:
two grains (120mg) Armour= 76mcg T4 + 18mcg T3
1 1/2 grains(90mg) Armour= 57mcg T4 + 13.5mcg T3
one grain (60mg) of Armour= 38mcg T4 + 9mcg T3
1/2 grain (30mg) of Armour= 19mcg T4 + 4.5mcg T3
****

Meep, can I ask, is this something you figured on your own, or found at another site?

I am glad to see this, I was on 50 mcg of Synthroid and my new dr Rxed me 1 grain of Armour, I was worried that was too much, but after seeing your chart, it looks exactly right.

Glad I could help you! :)

I prefer Unithroid because it was the first one to be approved by the FDA after all T4 meds had to apply for approval, AND it is the med with the fewest recalls in recent history. I am not bashing the alternatives, but Unithroid is what my choice is. Side note: My wife works for a doctor and sometime brings me samples of Synthroid, and that works well for me, too.

The information is all over the place, but it is available in the prescription insert for Armour as well as on their website. A REALLY good breakdown if the info is available if you do a web search on "how to switch from synthroid to armour". Use those exact words, including the quotes, and the page should be near the top. It has commercial content, so I can't post a link to it.
