i agree with divermom -- i've been so depressed i can't stand it, wake up in the morning and cry, cry at every little thing -- and the dreadful sadness, that translates itself into a pain in your heart; i've been so boneshakingly cold i've had to have a flannel nightgown, a duvet, and my husband's body wrapped around me; my legs used to scream at me in the morning; i was exhausted and could sleep (and have slept) 20 out of 24 hours; i did the forgetfulness thing so much that people must have thought i was an idiot; i've been dizzy and spacey too ... this went on, at its worst, for four months ... i'm depressive, and have been on ADs for the past 10 years, but for six months before that, NO AD worked for me ...

then a doctor did a TSH test, and altho' it was in the normal range, it was high (3.9, and the range then was .5 to 5.0) ... i had severe hypothyroid symptoms tho', so i was treated ...

after i began treatment, i became less depressed but still needed ADs; my theory is that if your T3 is low, ADs don't work; you have to take synthroid and cytomel (T3) to get your T3 level up -- perhaps you won'tt even need ADs any more ...

i see you are from canada, and i am too (ottawa) ... are you from a small town? do you have a GP who keeps track of all your doctor visits and blood tests and might be able to make some sense of this? can you get to an endo? if you have seen one, can you get another one? you need the tests that divermom described, and you need them properly interpreted ...

your story moved me deeply -- keep in touch ...

Your story sounds very much the same as mine. I went undiagnosed for 5 years with contant dizziness and spaciness with normal thyroid testing. My heart goes out to you. I have just recently found a doctor who is willing to treat my symptoms. I started synthroid about a month ago. I am on a very low dose put hopefully he will up it soon.

I am also from canada and doctors accepting new patience are few and far between. Keep trying until you find a doc. willing to treat sympotms. I thought I had no where else to turn and then I found dr.right.
