Hi Jinglebts.

I was curious to know how you were doing on synthroid. I am taking 50mcg right now and I feel good but by late afternoon I am dragging. I still haven't been able to lose any weight. I know I haven't been on here in a while....I have been realy struggling trying to lose at least 5lbs. Anything.

My last tests that I had said I was in range with my tsh. He didn't test anything else(he is just a gp). Should I see and endo and have more tests done or just continue my meds until I see my gp again? -Roni
sorry i haven't got back to you ...

you can be in range and still be hypo (many doctors go by just the numbers), so if you're tired by mid-day, i'd say the dosage isn't working for you ...

i'd ask the GP if he'll up the dosage (i STARTED on 50 mcg, so it's not very high -- i'm up to 112 now and still having symptoms) ...

AND make an appt with an endo, because (i know we've talked before but i've forgotten so forgive me if i'm repeating myself) you should have a TSH test, AND free T4 and T3 tests done (these are important), and a thyroid antibodies test ...

so do both those things (your GP may not want to increase the dosage, but you could ask for 88mcg to tide you over until you see your endo ...

i'm doing relatively well on synthroid, altho'
it's a balancing act -- too much of it (i was on 125 for a month) tips me over into hyper, so i'm finding the whole thyroid thing tricky ... might try levothyroxine (generic synthroid) because there's a difference, but that's only a "might" -- i'm mostly doing well ...

:D

i was banned from the board for a week, which is why i didn't see your post ...
