Thyroid Disorders board

I have been on 100mcg of synthroid since 9/03 when I was diagnosed with a TSH of 111. My former endo laughed when I requested a free T3 test, and said you can get the same results with a total t3 test. (That is why she is now my former doctor) ... Tomorrow, I have an appointment with a doctor that prescribes primarily armour. My issues are brain fog, lack of energy and inability to lose weight.

From what I read on this board most of you are pleased with Armour, noting that it is excellent in helping with the "Brain Fog" and inability to lose weight. Thus, I think this is the direction that I will be heading also.

Now my question. Is there anyone out there who has made the switch, what kind, if any problems did you have? Is there anyone who tried it and felt better on the synthroid?

That just goes to show you how much that endo didn't know about thyroid, glad you ditched that one.

Natural meds help a lot with the brain fog and everything else. I don't take Armour, but I take Nature-Throid which is basically the same, only different fillers.
I have read of some on the boards that couldn't take Armour, one because it affected their asthma, another who just couldn't tolerate it, but for the most part everyone loves it and does a lot better on it than the synthetics.
Sarkel,
I have been on Armour for three weeks now after switching from Synthroid use for over two years, and being on thyroid hormone replacment for over 2.5 years. My brain fog and ability not to lose weight was effecting my home life and my job. It had become an obsesion to find out why nothing was happening even though I would spend hours at the gym along with playing competative hockey with two games a week as well as practices working my butt of and thinking all the time this is going to help(but with no luck I would stay the same) So finally and luckily my doctor and I had a talk, well actually I did all the talking and comvinced him that we WERE going to try this drug. Luckily my GP is a good and well educated doctor and he is willing to try anything. (If your read Jenn75 other posts you will see that my GP has his hands full with my wife and I!! )This new drug is amazing, in a matter of days even hours I could feel and see a diffrence with the brain fog, and with the weight thing I know that all my hard work at the gym and playing sports it will melt away like it should be. I would and will recommend that anyone taking Synthroid and is having the same problems as the rest of us should ask there doctor to swicth them to a Natural Thyroid Hormone it isn't going to hurt to try it, especially if you are feeling crappy right now. Anyway good luck and remember your not alone in this. That is what these boards are for!!!
