Hi everyone. I have the results of my first follow-up appointment after starting Synthroid almost five weeks ago. I am currenly on the lowest dose. How long do most people stay on the low dose? Has anyone remained on the lowest dose and benefited enough?

The doctor only ran the TSH and Free T4 for the follow-up. The TSH is 1.02 (.34-4.82) and the Free T4 is 1.12 (.6-1.4).

Should the T3 have been tested too? If so, the Total T3, Free T3, or both?

Thank you!

Like Lydia pointed out, sometimes the smallest dose can make a big difference. Usually, the dose is increased after your first followup blood test, if needed, and you work up from there--preferably one small baby step at a time.

I think your Free T4 should come up a little more and a small dose increase is in order--perhaps to 37.5mcg, but not all the way to 50mcg, that might be too much at this point.
