Hair Loss / Alopecia board

If your hair loss is directly due to your hypoT, it will stop shortly after your free hormones are balanced at optimal levels. In some rare instances, Synthroid itself has been known to cause continued hair loss, even after good levels are achieved. A brand switch may help if that's the case.

If your hypoT is due to the autoimmune form of the disease (Hashimoto's), there is an increased chance you might be affected by other autoimmune diseases as well. There is one that causes patchy hair loss, called alopecia areata. If you want to rule that out, you should see a dermatologist.

Otherwise, if you've only had your thyroid treated for a short time, you should give your med a chance to regulate things.
Good luck.
