Discussions that mention synthroid

Hi...I had silicone implants done in 1990 and have never had any problems with them.

I was just diagnosed with an auto-immune thyroid disease and hypothyroidism....and have been doing tons and tons of reading on the internet....there still seems to be no way of knowing who would have gotten a disease and who wouldn't.

Anyways.....have any of you developed any disease...diabetes etc......or did your dr talk to you about this?

My surgeon moved away, but I spoke to my Ob/gyn about it...he said to just leave them in, I would run more risk of them rupturing during removal.

Any thoughts? Thanks

Redeemed...are you on thyroid medication? If so, I would also bet that is why you feel better :)

I had my implants done many years ago with no problems and I feel my thyroid disease is inherited, it runs in my family. I feel much better since starting meds.

But I honestly have no idea whether or not these are linked to the implants. >>

Janet...that is the thing...there is no way to know if you will have gotten these ailments anyways. PLus with Hashimoto's thyroid disease, it is estimated that 15-25% of the population has thyroid disease, many not even diagnosed yet. I know many women with thyroid disease and none have implants.

I know this souds dumb...but with silicone, how do you know they have ruptured?

Thanks
