I was wondering if anyone has ever been prescribed T4 from a compounding pharmacy. This is where they put the synthetic form of T4, whichever amount your doctor prescribes, in a capsule with an olive oil suspension rather than the fillers and binders they use in pills. If so what are some experiences with this type of thyroid replacement? Dawn

Hello I receive thyroxine "L" 25 mcg from a compounding pharmacy ...However I get mine in a transdermal cream form..Just started maybe 2 weeks or 3 ago...So far im doing ok with it..Im having my ups and downs but not as bad as it was from taking synthroid , levoxyl, levathroid and nature throid..
Give it a shot... Take Care
i'm intrigued. so far i've not done well on the lowest doses of levothyroxine and synthroid. what you're talking about may be a good option for me too. WHERE do you find compounding pharmacies and/or that transdermal cream??

Well 1st get a script from your dr about having your meds compounded w/o binders and fillers. If you are wanting it in a transdermal form tell him or her to put that on the script as well.then call around your town for local compounding pharmacies and ask if they work with thyroid meds..You may have to go as far as to get it out of town...Im in the Florida region and im receiving mine meds from California..Take Care
