Discussions that mention synthroid

Thyroid Disorders board

I have/had thyroid cancer and generics are a big issue for us. We are usually not permitted to take them because of exactly what has happened to you. The way they work in your body can be different from manufacturer to manufacturer. Heck, I even have some difference when I change brand names. Usually, when I take Synthroid or Levothroid, my TSH will remain the same when I make a brand switch, but I remember changing to Levoxyl and my TSH went up a bit. So, I know if I take Levoxyl, I need a higher dose.

This new brand could be doing the same thing. That you have an increased appetite tells me that the new batch you have probably is lowering your TSH more (making you more on the HYPER side). Appetite is one of my BIGGEST indicators that I am taking too much thyroid hormone.
