Cancer: Breast board

In 2001 I had LCIS and had a lumpectomy and 5 years of Tamoxifen. I'm now on Femara. Had a lumpectomy on opposite breast a couple of weeks ago and it was DCIS. I go to the oncologist next week but I don't know what he will recommend. If I have the choice of radiation or mastectomy, which should I do. I would personally like to have it gone for good but is it the right choice?
I too had breast cancer in 2001 with radiation and 5 years of tamoxifen. I have a lot of damage done to the breast from the surgery and also the radiation so very much scar tissue which makes examinations difficult. Last year a biopsy was done on a suspicious area near the insision site that they said was growing. It turnrd out to be calcified tissue they thought but should be watched. This year after my mammogram and ultrasound they have decided I should have an MRI so am booked next month for that. Personally if there is more cancer I would have the mastectomy but it has to be your own choice depending on your own feelings. Your age, reconstruction if wanted , chance of reoccurance etc. has to be considered and your doctor is the only one who can help you with that. Good luck and my prayers are with you
