Discussions that mention thyroxine

if you are eating only veggies, you are probably taking in a lot more water than you are used to. unless you have high blood pressure, you should be consciously trying to get some salt into your diet so that your blood pressure doesn't drop too much (which can make you feel faint, dizzy, etc). also, it is crucial to get some iodine (iodized salt) because it is part of thyroxine, the hormone secreted by your thyroid gland. if you get too little (or too much), your thyroid gland could go into overdrive, become enlarged- a goiter could form.

you definitely shouldn't consume tons of salt, but in moderation, it's certainly not a bad thing.

i also agree that you should make sure you are getting some fat and some protein. for fat, try avocadoes and a little bit of olive oil drizzled over whatever veggies you are having. for protein, nuts, seeds, beans (black, white, navy, kidney, lentil, soy, garbanzo, etc) would be good. it's important to get some starch, too, with veggies like potatoes.
