Discussions that mention tylenol

Ok I am now 9 day post op and I thought I would give an update. I did go through some weird emotional stuff about the 5th and 6th days. I'm 33yo male and haven't cried since 96 when my mom died but Friday and Saturday I was balling like a baby. It wasen't due to physical pain at all. I have been mostly pain free since the op. I am thinking that maybe it is because I quit all the pain meds I have been taking for months and has to do with withdraw. What ever it was it only lasted about 2 1/2 days. Sunday, Monday and today have been great. More energy, less pain. My Doc told me to walk as much as I can so I have been walking the neighborhood. I still have some numbness and a very small amount of pain in the same area I did before surgery but tylenol takes care of it just fine. I have read all the posts and I know I am not out of the woods yet, but so far so good. Like I said before the hardest part is this Aspen collar and not doing too much. I am going to have to come up with a creative way to destroy this collar once I am free of it!
Hi Colt,

I had ACDF C5-6 and C6-7 on June 30th. I too am doing very well with the exception of having to return to the hospital after the first night when I couldn't swallow my meds. Got this under control and so far I am feeling pretty good. My voice is almost normal. I don't really have much pain...I think I handle pain better than most. I had complete nerve blockage at both levels in my neck, and used only Tylenol to control pain.

The pain I had before surgery at this point seems to be gone.

I hate the collar too. Not able to sleep well with it.

I think I will run mine over with my new truck that I can only look at and not drive...

Hi there ...
I am 8 weeks post op and had a thought about the crying. It definitely could be withdrawal, and I have been there. But, when I was a week or two out of surgery, there was a certain helplessness that I felt. Especially if you feel stuck in that collar and restricted from picking up your kids (or even a jug of water for that matter). It's extremely emotionally draining to be helpless and dependent. Just a thought. Take care and feel good.
Ricki.
