Back Problems board

Wow, what an eye opener. It appears that many of us are suffering from back pain caused by various causes, but being either told, the cause doesn't appear that bad, , you will become addicted to pain medicines, and my all time favorite - stress will make the pain worse, go home and relax. In the meantime we are the ones who are suffering, our lives are on hold, and being told that tylenol will help!!!! (yeah, that works) I actually have made to feel guilty because I have pain, been treated like a hypochrondiac etc. Having to wait months for MRI's, appointments for Pain Mgmt., and treatments does not help. I keep reading that that if there is a problem with compressed nerves, they should be treated in a reasonable amount of time, but that after one year the chance of recovery is so much less. Question, why are there so many of us around, still in pain, doing various treatments for not one year, but several, and also, if pain becomes chronic after 3 months, why does it take 2 months to get an MRI, if you are lucky, then have to wait another month for an appt. with specialist, who then sends you back for epidurals etc, PT etc. By the time you finish up with all of that, you are at least 1 1/2 years down the road, and then they start the treatments all over again.....you can become chronic just waiting to see doctors. Have actually told family doctor that I felt like a big insurance claim. Guess he didn't appreciate my comment (I do have a smart mouth), as he put in my record that I made inappropriate comments!!!!!!! I wish you all a better day today...
