Most likely it is inflammation of the nerve coverings near surface of the skin. I have this off and on, in fact it seems to move from place to place in various degrees. Changing weather will really cause sensitivity to show up somewhere.

Have you tried a heating pad or very warm bath/shower. If it is too sensitive the shower water might be too uncomfortable.

Most likely the inflammation is due to rheumatism. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia but that is the dumping ground for what doctors do not know what is wrong with you.

Anti-inflammatory meds will help some, such as Motrin, Ibuprophen, Aleeve, Tylenol, Aspirin, however, they are hard on the stomach. There are prescription meds out that might help but side effects are not desired as a rule. I am taking a new anti-inflammatory med called Limbrel, a health food, available only by prescription at a pharmacy. So far it does not bother my stomach or have any side effects. It is working.

Best thing is to see a doctor to rule out other causes.
