Discussions that mention tylenol

Children's Health board

I was once told by a pedaetrician that a temperature is a temperature. People dwell too much on the number. He said 99 could be deathly for one child and 104 not too serious for another. He said if the child has any temperature, sponge them down in a bathtub with tepid water, they will scream but it should bring the temperature down. Depending on your baby/family doctor's thoughts about which med is the right one - give your child baby aspirin or tylenol. If this fails to bring the temperature down seek medical assistance at a walk-in clinic or ER.
My understanding is Aspirin should never be given to a child under 12 yo because the possibility of Ryes Syndrome. Children's Tylenol or Children's Advil also works well. But to be safe always call the Ped. to make sure the med and dose are OK.
