Did you review the ultrasound results with a GI doc, did they do a HIDA scan? Remember surgeons get paid to cut.

My GI doc has me on Ursodiol in an attempt to dissolve at least one stone and sludge. So far it has been pretty successful. I'm sure some folks on this board are tired of hearing me talk about it, but it can be an alternative in some cases. The caveats are that Urso is expensive, the treatment usually lasts at least one year and w/in five years many folks have symptoms return.

Choosing the date/time of surgery does give you some sense of control. It is a common surgical procedure with relatively low risk. I note that you did pick up the fact that around 25% of those who have gallbladder surgery, have continuing problems of varying degrees afterward.
