Discussions that mention valium

I am sorry that you are going through this. I have chronic abdominal pain as well, but mine is from endo. Try not to dread the colonoscopy. It is a very easy test to go through. The hardest part is the prep. Just get a few magazines, or reading material and stock the bathroom with soft paper, and some of the new wet wipes. As for the actual procedure, the only thing that will hurt, or that you will remember, is the IV. Most doctors use a combination of demerol (for pain), and versaid ( a form of valium) to relax you, and keep you comfortable. The versaid causes an amnesia effect, so while you are awake during the procedure, you will not remember it. I am glad you are having the colonoscopy done, it sounds like you need one. Ask your doctor to do an endoscopy at the same time. They might as well, then you would not have to do another prep, or be sedated again if they decide to do an upper GI.

I wish you all the best! Let us know what they find.
