Hearing Disorders board

vitamina - I don't speak Italian, but I understand frustration! I just got back on the boards today. It is 4 days since my surgery.

YES, I have pain. I had many many ear infections as a child, and it feels a LOT like that.

In the hospital, during recovery, I kept telling the nurse I had pain. They gave me medicine, but it still hurt. I finally decided to go home and be in pain in my own bed. When I got home, I took 2 Vicodin, and went to sleep. When I woke up, the pain was gone. It comes back, but not as bad, and I keep taking Vicodin for it. I am only taking one at a time now, since it can be addictive. If you are still in pain, CALL YOUR DR! My dr. said there is no reason to have pain - they will give me more vicodin if I need it. I am also taking valium, which helps with dizziness and helps me to rest.

When I hear loud noises, it does hurt my ear quite a bit for that moment. I think that is normal, but will ask my dr. on Monday. I just go find a quiet place when the house gets noisy. I can't be in the kitchen when dishes and things are being banged around - it is excruciating. I think our brains will eventually adjust, but ask your dr.

This is a great message board, but you have to be patient for people to get on and check. I will be looking for anymore posts from you, since we are recovering together! Good luck!
