Quote from rlcowboy:Hey, I go to a pain managment doctor now. I am 33 yr. old male and have had 4 back surgerys in the past 7 months, so I was sent to pain managment, actually he came to see me the last day I was in the hospital, witch impressed me! One thing I told him from the get go was that I DID NOT WANT ANY MORE NEEDLES IN MY BACK!! So he discussed several long acting meds for me and I had been on oxycontin for a while so we decided together to try methadone and so far I cant complain! And the cost is very, very low and does very well controlling the pain so far. If you dont wont shots, like me, tell them you just have a thing about needles going in your back and they SHOULD respect that, but some will still push the shots before they put you on long acting meds. If you dont like the doctor I wwould encourage you to try another because you will be dealing with he or she for a long time in order to help you improve your quality of life!!

Hiya ..I know the feeling.. I was in PM for 7 years .. and they gave me oxycontin, it did stop working and I didn't like the results .. they switched me to methadose and that worked great .. I have 2 surgeries .. 1st was dec 16th of 2003 and the 2nd was jan 9th of 2004 ... I am off the methaose and now just take vicodin and advil .. still have nerve pain .. I have discetomy on my L4-L5 .. twice .. 2nd one was the worse .. very very painful .. I had only healed 3 weeks or so before I went back in .. anyway .. I am happy the meds work for you ..
