Discussions that mention vicodin

Hi Linda

I am in Ashtabula County.. so, am very close to Cleveland. My pm Doc is part of ClCl, and is there every Monday. He is sending me to head of Radiology/PM, a Dr. Mikheil (sp)bcuz my doc doesn't agree w/ performing docs dx. That's all good and I don't mind (actually want to) have another discogram done. I want that positive report!!

I was so out of it I just remember yelling inside my head that it hurt, and have NO idea of anything came out of my mouth. When they were done, the doc said "Karen, I don't think it's your disc" - I started crying ( honestly , I don't know if that was also from pain of procedure as well as disappointment?) He said "oh, don't do that... I can't stand when someone cries (he was being very nice, I like him - just think he's wrong) "There is a tear. I'll talk to you more in recovery"

When he came to recovery, he said "are you more awake?" Now, you tell me... I think he realized I was way out of it! Aren't they supposed to know to keep you awake? ONly relaxed, not out. Anyway.. when I went for follow-up w/ my doc.. he asked if Dr. spoke w/ me.. and I told him that I thought I was over-sedated. I told him everything I've written. He looked at file for awhile, showed me the films - said he expected it to be positive by the look of the film bcuz there's a tear in L4 with a "significant" leak onto nerve. His words. Then he paused... and said he disagrees with the other Dr. He is the one who is sending me to ClCl. He said Dr. Mik.. is the best in the region for doing discograms... and he wants me to be sure and tell him everything about it.. and the reason he (my doc) is sending me is bcuz he's in Limbo.

So.. that's my story - now, I'm just waiting til the 8th of July!

How are you doint? sorry this was so long!

ttfn

Linda,

Did you get the written report? If all I had was my written report... it would have still shown the leak but, he didn't write it up like it was a big deal.

The other thing that bothered me about mine, I felt the sedation type and amount should have been listed - it wasn't. I wonder if there's another report just from anesthesiology? I doubt it, though, as the doctor performing proc. IS an anesthesiologist and also doctor. He and one other doc in practice do the ESI's (I had 3, didn't help) and only he does the Discograms. My doc is kind of the head guy there in my opinion. I could be wrong. I like them all... they're very concerned and nice, including most of the staff.

I'm very happy my doc has referred me to ClClinic. :) I think that much of his reason is due to not wanting to COMPLETELY disagree w/ other doc. This way, his butt's covered if they go forward w/ the FACT that my pain IS discogenic

I think I read somewhere on-line that it's important for the Treating Physician to DO the discogram. Now I see why and tend to agree.
