Back Problems board

Hi everyone,

I'm sure this has happened some a few of you out there. I was 2 1/2 weeks post op and feeling great!!! A little too great, because I decided to go outside of my restrictions. :nono:

I have a 1 1/2 year old that wanted to be held. It's so hard to say "no" when they're that age. They don't understand if you try to explain.... "my dr says I can't pick you up... I just had a back surgery and my weight limitations are 15 lbs and you weight 25 lbs..." Try to explain all day, they can't comprehend this it at 18 months old! So I picked him up and carried him down the stairs. That's when the pain began... about an hour or two later I started to wonder what I had done.

So, I'm back to pain again. I had no real back pain to speak of other than deep muscle achiness after surgery. Now I have real back pain again. I had to go see my dr. to have an xray to make sure everything was still ok. My cages looked great, he said he's never had anyone do anything to move them. Lucky for me. But I'm back on muscle relaxers and a new (to me) pain med-Talwin, which doesn't seem to do much. Love that Vicodin, but it didn't help me anymore since I'd been taking it for 5 weeks before surgery :(

If only I would have listened. I was feeling so great. I'm going to try to be a better patient from now on!

God bless,
Elaine
