Discussions that mention vicodin

[FONT=Georgia]Hi everyone...I haven't posted in a little while...but I had a quick question. I ran out of Vicodin and Percocet...and unfortunately I don't visit my NS again until Aug. 20th. I can't even call him to have him call in another prescription because he's on vacation. I was wondering if it would be ok to take Flexiril...if it would help with the pain at all? I'm pretty much off all the meds...I just normally took my paid meds at night before I went to bed. I take Motrin or something along that line during the day. Last night was a sleepless night for me because I was so uncomfortable. I know it's a muscle relaxer and I know that they cut my muscles and they're trying to heal back together now...so just wanted to make sure about the Flexiril before I started to take it. Any feedback would be appreciated...thanks a bunch.

Hi Psucher,

First, I am not a pharmacist so I can only tell you what I know from personal experience. Flexeril doesn't do much for me. I have taken it along with Vicodin and I don't feel any different really. My dr told me that Flexeril helps the Vicodin work better by relaxing the muscles and relieving pain. But I just don't think it does much for me. I just recently got switched to Skelaxin. It helps a little more.

You could take Flexeril before bed; it may help you sleep. But I think the best OTC med I have found for pain at night is Tylenol PM. Does wonders for a good nights sleep!

Good luck to you. I know it's hard not getting the sleep you need.

Hi Psucher...I had a L5-S1 Discectomy/Laminectomy on June 2..... My neuro perscribed flexiril for me along with my vicodin.... didn't seem to do much for me....since flexiril is a muscle relaxer it is not going to do anything for the pain.... You could try taking Tylenol PM at night, that is what I do, and it seems to help me get a pretty restful nights sleep... I don't take my vicodin unless I really really have to...unless I have been having unbearable pain all day because it puts me to sleep... smooth out....LOL!....Just a suggestion... Good luck! Hope it helps...
