I'm addicted to Vicodin and I know I NEED to stop. The problem is, I don't WANT to. I know, I know, you have to want to quit in order to quit. I get so ill when I try quitting and it's unbearable. I can't work or function. I'm desperate. I can never seem to "wean" or "taper" off. The monkey on my back is always screaming. Any detox remedies or advice? How about listing some reason's why I SHOULD stop. I feel like I'm such a better person on them...I'm happier, more confident, social, energetic, I could go on and on. Please, any kind words or advice would be deeply appreciated. :(
I was hooked on vicodin for a couple of years..........I felt so good all the time I was doing 15 to 20 a day......and I spent so much money

This is how it went for me:

1st ....... I had so much fun with them

2nd.......I had fun with problems

3rd........Nothing but problems

When I could not take it anymore I went to the ER and they took care of me
I have been clean 10 month now and it feels great..........If you want to hear my whole story let me know

GOOD LUCK

Thats awesome JCS, just curious, how long do you think it took for your own natural endorphins to kick back in?
Gina, Listen to all this great advice and go to a SUB Dr Monday morning!!! I was on 20 to 30 vicodins a day for 6 years and I went to the SUB Dr and was off them in a month!! I haven't used in 4 months and don't miss them at all! It was embaressing going to the Dr at first but I got over it.. You need to do it!!! Good luck!!!

Unfortunately, I just called a sub office and explained my Vic addiction and they said, "Welp, sorry, can't help you, we're not taking new patients". That was a huge slap in the freakin face for me trying to get help for the very first time. Maybe I'll just go it alone. I mean, they didn't even offer any alternatives or offices that I could call. Whatever.
I can give you about a million and a half reasons why you should quit NOW... the biggest being that in a very short time, vicodin's aren't going to be sufficient to give you that great feeling you enjoy so much... that's when the cycle really begins, when you switch to something more potent (am sure you know what i'm referring to)... i was the same as you about 2 years ago... and about 1 year ago I discovered a little thing called Oxycodone in its most concentrated form.. I told myself that I would NEVER EVER touch oxycontin's but one day eventually ended up doing so... now its been one year with several attempts to stop.. failed attempts i might add.. you think you feel sick off vicodins? Keep going on the road you are, and you will shortly discover a new hell that you cannot begin to imagine... take your vicodin withdrawl effects and multiply.... nay, the withdrawl is exponentially worse. I have never known where to draw the line and up till this, i have always been able to say enuff is enuff when i go to far... i've now said enuff is enuff on countless occasions but unfortunately its not quite that easy.. My suggestion, suck it up for a few weeks and suffer thru it uneless you want to experience a hell which is indescribable.. You want some more motivation? How about the fact that vicodin's on a regular basis do more damage to your liver than drinking a 12 pack a day every day... Seriously, please heed my advice and grin & bear it now while you are on a dosage that should be relatively easy to come off of compared to the road you're heading down... I can't tell you enuff how much I, and several people i know wish we had stopped with vicodin's...... good luck... ps. stay positive and find things to do with your time.. In a very short time, you body will readjust and get that great feeling from natural things like it used to... Opiates are THE MOST addictive substance known to man (Fact).. please go cold turkey... you'll be glad every single day for the rest of your life..
hope this was at all helpfull...
