Discussions that mention vicodin

Pain Management board

When my chronic pain started, my primary care doc was a regular MD. He was terrible to me and treated me like I was a drug seeking junkie whenever I saw him or asked him for any help with my pain. His nursing assistant was just as bad and rude to me. After several frustrating and demoralizing months with him, I finally decided to switch doctors. I found a DO. I had no idea what one of these was, but did a little research and decided to give him a try. I was pleasantly surprised at how knowledgeable he was about my condition, about medications in general and how open minded he was about the medications I was on. Not once did I sense any judgement coming from him. I have seen him for a variety of non-chronic pain related issues and have been very pleased with his thoroughness and wide variety of knowledge about alot of different issues. My old doctor seems stupid, judgemental and narrow minded in comparison. I, for one, am glad I made the switch. I am not sure how he would be if I needed him to RX my pain meds as that has not come up. But I certainly think he would be more amenable to it than my old MD, who acted like giving me a couple of vicodin was feeding a horrible addiction.
