I'd like to thank all of the helpful people here! Just knowing you are not alone is a big help! So, if I could get a point in the right direction I would be extremely greatful.
16 months ago, while working maint. at an apartment complex, I fell down a stairway with an arm load of tile. I first landed on my left butt cheek, then continued down. I was on wet carpet, and the homeowner had a plastic runner down the steps.
Off to the ER for xray and Vicodin and a shot, versed. I went home a laid down for 2 days, then back to the ER, same reason. I had no primary, so I looked for a comp doctor, I figured it would be the fastest way back to work. he ordered rest 2 weeks, then PT (physical therapy). It was slow recovery. At 4 months,I had a MRI done, which showed a bulge at L4, and L5, I had finished injections (6), only 2 worked for a week and a half, and was in the process of PT, doing the weight lift from table to table. I could do 10lbs for 10 minutes, at 15lbs I had gone about 1 minute when I felt this terrible jabbing pain, so we stopped. It was a shock to me and my therapist. 2 days later I was back to PT, and doin the routine, and at 15lbs I failed again, this time with continued pain. I had all ready been off the Vicadin for 3 weeks, and now I was back on. PT was stopped by my comp doctor, and I was ordered to see 2 specialists, They ordered a blood test, (positive for R/A, which I had never had a symptom), and an EEG, which was slight disturbance on left leg, and a bone scan showin a little extra on the S1, L5. I also showed DDD (mild).
The 2 specialist, (1 was a physiotherapist, the other a Ortho) Told comp that I was as far as they could take me, and that they had fulfilled the outline of the law. I could hardly walk to the appt.s and asked for ice when I went to see them. Comp dropped my case that day. The original doctor was still ordering my pills,( Vicadin, Flexeril, and Ibuprofin)
By now I've been selling anything I own, my work wouldn't take me back because I could hardly walk. I was destitute with my son and my mother that I take care of. Fortunately my brother had a house we could move into, but with no income I had to go to Family Independance Agency, which also gave me a cheap insurance card.
Now I am at a year and a half, I seen a specialist, and while holding my welfare card, I was told to see a shrink. I was there for about 6 minutes. For the last 3 months, my bowel and bladder have gotten mixed up. I feel like I am full all the time, and had some slips. The pain has increased steadily. I have a PA doing long term pain care, and she is about ready to give up. I hired an atty, and he had me see another doctor. This doc said there is a fracture on the promontory of the S1, a piece is off, towards the anterior. Also L3,4 has a similar break to the anterior. My bowel when full puts a lot of pressure on the disc, causing a lot of pain, it feels like it tears along when I stand. Also, had hemorrhoids, and the internal were prolapsing.
Now I have had a surgery(hemrrhoid ectomy) and was sent home same day. That was 2 days ago, yesterday went to ER for Toradol, and today, went to my PA and got another toradol. Over the course of the injury, the hemorrhois have gotten worse, even with no constipation present. Now I am ready to give up. I can't walk, have bowel "slips". and I have no specialist to help. My PA is ticked because I asked to speak to the doctor to make some kind of plan. I don't know where to go from here. I am sure when someone see's how long this is, they won't read. If you did, I could sure use some help. I have to stop now and lay down, it hurts too bad. Thank you, Laurin
